English gives members here a shared language in which to speak honestly about faith, character and the hope of marriage. Those who live in or near Freetown, or elsewhere in Sierra Leone, can look for someone within reach whose intentions are equally serious.

Some choose to widen their search past their own borders, writing to believers in Gambia, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso or Cape Verde. Belonging to one region can make correspondence, and later a visit with a view to lasting Christian commitment, easier to picture.
